How the Rotmütz books are made

A Rotmütz book is a slow object on purpose. The pages are thick enough for small hands to turn one at a time; the binding is sewn so the book opens flat on a lap and stays there; the type is large and calm and never crowds the picture.

The covers are drawn as one family. Every volume carries the same quiet grammar — the framed field, the series mark, the paper title plate — and each season brings its own light: blossom-pale for spring, meadow-gold for summer, russet for autumn, and the deep lantern-lit green of the winter night. Only one thing is on every cover without exception, and it is small and red.

Honesty note, in the shop's own voice: what you see in this release are draft editions. The words and prices on these pages are rehearsal values, and the shop says so rather than dressing them up as settled facts.
